Timber Producers Association of Zambia (TPAZ) has proposed that government establishes timber auctioning centers throughout the country where timber will be auctioned.
TPAZ Vice President, Charles Masange, has told QFM News in an interview that it is sad that some people have continued to harvest timber illegally, thus the need to come up with timber auctioning centers.
Mr. Masange says his association has written to the Ministry of Lands, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection to propose the initiative, noting that such initiatives are lacking in the timber production sector.
He says Chinese timber producers have opened the eyes of Zambians that Mukuba timber is very marketable on the international market, hence the need to protect it by all means possible.
