Church Mother Bodies will soon formulate a self-regulatory mechanism to deal with mushrooming Churches.
The decision was agreed upon during meetings that the government has been holding with the Church Mother Bodies.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka on Thurdsay, Home Affairs Deputy Minister Stephen Kampyongo says the move is meant to bring sanity and order among churches.
Mr Kampyongo has explained that the meetings were convened following numerous complaints from members of the public and other stakeholders.
He says the self regulatory mechanism would assist the office of the registrar of societies to review its Act with an emphasis on vetting applications of Churches and other religious organisations.
Mr Kampyongo was flanked by Council of Churches in Zambia Secretary General Susane Matale and Zambia Episcopal Conference Secretary General Cleophas Lungu.
Others were Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia EFZ Executive Director Pukuta Mwanza and Islamic Supreme Council of Zambia officials.
