Football Association of Zambia, (FAZ), Prsident Kalusha Bwalya says the death of former referee, Chileshe Mukuka is very shocking and saddening especially that only on Saturday last week, he was well and even managed to watch the double header at woodlands stadium.
“Mr Mukuka is a man that dedicated all his life to the development of football during and after his prime as a referee”, he has been a pivotal pillar in the referees department at FAZ and a very useful depository of information” said the FAZ chief.
The late Mr Mukuka was involved in a road traffic accident on Saturday in Chilanga and was hospitalized at the UTH but unfortunately,he died the following day.
At the time of his passing on, Mr Mukuka was a FIFA and CAF, Match Commissioner, and also a CAF and COSAFA Referees’ Instructor.
During his active days as a referee Mr Mukuka held several postions which included,General Secretary of the Referees Association of Zambia,CAF Referees Committee member, and CAF Regional Representative of the Southern Region.
“On behalf of the FAZ executive and indeed the entire footballing fraternity in Zambia, I want to pass my sincere condolences to the Mukuka family, and pray that our good lord gives them strenghth as they face this sad reality.” Kalusha added.
