Luo commends Airtel Zambia

 

Lusaka, February 20, ZANIS ——Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkandu Luo has commended Airtel Zambia for donating 100 traditional ceremony books to the ministry to be distributed to some libraries and national museums across the country.

 

Speaking in Lusaka today when she received the books, Prof. Luo says the books depict the traditional ceremonies Zambia is endowed with adding that the books will help go a long way in explaining the country’s rich culture.

 

Prof. Luo says documentation in form of books by Airtel will also help preserve the cultural heritage and prevent cultural bankruptcy for the young generation.

 

She said the gesture exhibited by Airtel Zambia has gone an extra mile in documenting the Zambian traditional ceremonies.

 

Prof. Luo urged the mobile service provider not to relent but continue supporting the traditional ceremonies in the country.

 

She said the beneficiaries of the books include Choma Museum and Craft project, Ndola, Lusaka, Maramba, Livingstone, Nahuma, Victoria falls Field Railway National Museums as well as the Moto-Moto National Museums in Mbala.

 

Among the libraries, the beneficiaries include, Kitwe, Lusaka City Council, Chingola, Lubuto’s Ngwerere Branch, Kabanana and Razavi Public library respectively.

 

And speaking earlier, Airtel Head of Corporate Communications and Government Relations Chibuka Kawesha said his organization will continue supporting traditional ceremonies in the country.

 

Dr Kawesha said the donation demonstrates the corporation’s social responsibility of ploughing back to the communities and support to preservation of Zambia’s culture.
