-Government has called for total cleansing of corrupt activities that exists at basic level in institutions.
Acting Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska says he is aware that basic corruption exists in both public and private institutions in the country.
Dr. Msiska observed that people associate corruption with big figures only, stating that even minimal amounts and soliciting for moral support is corruption and called on institutions to exhibit integrity.
Dr. Msiska was speaking in Lusaka today when he officiated at the Integrity Committee Training workshop organized by the Anti-Corruption commission (ACC).
He said corruption has a long term effects to both the government and the economy of Zambia adding that the training is timely in addressing corruption issues so that there is effective service delivery in institutions.
He observed that key sectors of the nation like the road, health, education have greatly suffered at the hands of selfish corrupt people as some resources have been misappropriated, misapplied and mismanaged.
And speaking earlier, ACC Director General Rosewin Wandi disclosed that the National Anti-Corruption Policy has got three aspects and seeks to address legal, social and institutional and that a number of 26 Institutions Integrity Committees have been established.
Ms. Wandi said her Commission intends to roll out the similar training to the Copperbelt and North-western provinces so the Officers are knowledgeable and acquire best tools to fight grafts which she said is a global phenomenon because of its dynamics.
