Works and Supply Minister, Yamfwa Mukanga has dismissed assertions that government is having trouble paying contractors working on various infrastructure projects in the country.
Mr. Mukanga says as longer as funds are available, contractors are being paid adding that what government has been doing is that before awarding contracts it first ascertains the availability of funds.
On revelations that government is delaying to pay the contractor working on the Kasaba Bay and the Ndola-Kitwe Dual Carriageway, Ng’andu Consulting Limited, Mr. Mukanga has told Qfm News in a telephone interview that there are other issues that are being looked at on the matter.
The Minister says these were issues where the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had instituted corruption investigations.
Mr Mukanga however states that the ministry of Finance has since been engaged to ensure that the problem is resolved.
