Mubanga injury hurts Nkana
Lusaka, February 13th, 2014, ZANIS — Nkana midfielder Kelvin Mubanga is a big doubt for Saturdays CAF Champions League home tie against Mbabane Swallows.
The news is a big blow for Nkana who host the Swaziland champions after losing 2-0 away in their preliminary round, first leg meeting on February 9 at Somhlolo Stadium in Manzini.
According to MTNfootball . com , Mubanga failed to train all of Wednesday at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe due to an knee injury he sustain on Tuesday just 24 hours after the team returned from Swaziland.
"He sustained a knock in training on Tuesday afternoon after he slipped," Nkana coach Masauso Mwale told MTNFootball.com. "We have asked him to see the Doctor after we withdrew him from training today after we saw that he couldn’t cope."
Mubanga’s absence has left Mwale grappling with optional issues in addition to tactical adjustments especially after Nkana struggled to find any rhythm in midfield against Swallows last Sunday.
The development could see attacking midfielder Shadreck Musonda who was a late substitute in last weekend’s loss probably playing as a makeshift central midfielder.
Meanwhile, Nkana must beat Swallows 3-0 on Saturday to ensure they progress to the CAF Champions League first round.
