Mucheleka disappoints Col. Chanda over Chief Shimumbi
Luwingu, February, 15, 2013, ZANIS —Northern Provincial Minister Col. Gerry Chanda has says Lubasenshi Independent Member of Parliament (MP) Patrick Mucheleka’s belittling Chief Shimumbi is disappointing.
Col. Chanda spelt his disappointment when he paid a courtesy call on Luwingu District Commissioner, (DC) Mambwe Katontoka in Luwingu yesterday.
He appealed to Mr. Mucheleka to quickly apologize to the Traditional leader to show respect and work with the chief to achieve development to people in the area.
Col. Chanda also advised people in Lubasenshi Constituency to learn and elect a person who is ready to work with them and respect their chiefs who are chosen to serve until their death.
He said the PF Government respects chiefs and wish to work with traditional leaders as they are partners in development in the nation.
The Minister thanked Luwingu DC for working in harmony with civil servants in the district as they are key stakeholders in running Government.
Col. Chanda added that PF Government wants to run a civil service that is disciplined and perform to the expectation of PF Manifesto.
Meanwhile, Luwingu District Commissioner (DC) Mambwe Katontoka called on Ministry of Health Headquarters to quickly provide a radiographer at Luwingu District Hospital to reduce referring cases to Kasama for treatment.
Mrs. Katontoka requested the Minister’s entourage to visit Luwingu Secondary School, Water project and New Luwingu Prison to familiarize with problems the district is facing.
She expressed happiness that Luwingu-Mansa road will soon be in operation that will steer development between the two towns and promote efficient transport in the area.
The Minister was on his familiarization tour of Northern Province and has so far visited Mbala, Mpulungu, Nsama, Mporokoso and Kaputa districts.
Col. Chanda will today tour Luwingu and call on traditional leaders, meet Government Heads of departments and other public workers.
He added that he has remained with Chilubi, Kasama and Mungwi districts to complete his tour of the Province.
