Zambia Widows Network Association has greatly regretted the sudden death of over 50 people in an unbelievable traffic road accident which occurred along Kabwe road in Chibombo on Thursday last week.
Network president Florence Mwewa said the death of over 50 people will forever linger in the minds of Zambians just as the nation always mourns the departed “KK” eleven soccer national team, which died in a horrific Gabon plane crush in 1993.
Mrs. Mwewa told ZANIS in a press statement in Lusaka today that the departed leaders, family members and friends add to the list of the cries of Zambia as a nation.
She said there was no doubt that God will hear the cries of Zambians and liberate the great country from any principality of darkness and grief.
And Mrs. Mwewa has also called on the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) and the traffic police department to ensure full installation of traffic road signs in all the roads in the country.
She suggested that RTSA and traffic police should vigorously conduct periodic capacity building training on the road usage and safety and facilitate the recruitment of volunteer traffic observers from local communities.
She said such people would be able to detect, monitor and apprehend road users that abrogate the traffic regulations
Mrs. Mwewa added that the two wings of government should also ensure that road users undergo a comprehensive road worth evaluation before certification of fitness to drive on Zambian roads.
She said a stiffer punishment should be applied to all road users who abrogate road traffic regulations.
