ZANIS COPY – Siavonga council warns bar, tavern owners

——–Siavonga District Council has urged business houses to have a sense of responsibility and help curb the increasing number of teenagers patronizing bars and taverns in the district.

Siavonga District Council Secretary, Venture Kafula, says the local authority is concerned that some businessman and women have continued to abrogate the law concerning the admission of underage patrons in bars.

Mr Kafula told ZANIS in an interview that there was need to find ways and means of protecting young people from patronizing such places.

He called on parents to have a sense of responsibility over their children by not allowing them to go to bars and taverns but encourage them to go to school.

Mr Kafula threatened that the local authority will arrest culprits as this is one way of addressing the situation.

The council secretary said the council is carrying out random operations to the bars in the district and warned bar owners who do not comply with the law that they will have their bars closed and licenses revoked.
