Kalaba misses CAF awards

ZAMBIA midfielder Rainford Kalaba has not made the final list for the locally-based African-Footballer-of-the-Year award.
Last month, Kalaba was among five players who were shortlisted for the award.
Kalaba’s former TP Mazembe teammate Tresor Mputu was also not shortlisted.
Kalaba was instrumental in guiding TP Mazembe to the final of the 2013 Confederation Cup, where they lost 2-3 on aggregate to Tunisian side CS Sfaxien.
This is according to the list of shortlisted players released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday evening.
Kalaba was a finalist in 2012 alongside compatriot Stopilla Sunzu but were pipped to the award by Egyptian legend Mohammed Aboutrika.
Aboutrika, who has since retired, has made the cut with another Egyptian international Ahmed Fathy and Sunday Mba of Nigeria.
Mba scored the goal that saw the Super Eagles win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
Reigning African-Player-of-the-Year Yaya Toure is in the running to retain his crown and will battle it out against his compatriot Didier Drogba, who features for Turkish side Galatasaray, and Nigeria and Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi.
Toure campaigns for English side Manchester City.
