CEEF embarks on industry creation for job opportunities
Mongu, February 7, ZANIS ——– The Citizens Economic Empowerment Funds (CEEF) has introduced a 100 million kwacha rebased scheme aimed at creating industries in all the ten provinces in its value addition industrialization programme in the country.
Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission Director General Likando Mukumbuta disclosed this at a consultative stakeholders meeting which was held in Mongu district at Country Lodge on Tuesday.
Mr Mukumbuta said a total of 1000 jobs in each province and empowering 4 000 micro entrepreneurs will be created saying the programme will run for the next four years in intervals of one year in three districts of each province.
He explained that 10 million kwacha rebased will be allocated to each province per year for these projects.
The Director General said the commission has taken a value chain approach to focus in each of the industries in the districts as each district has a significant resource different from the others.
Mr Mukumbuta revealed that Mongu, Kaoma and Sesheke have been identified as the first districts in Western province.
He said the fish industry has been identified for Mongu, cassava for Kaoma and timber for Sesheke districts saying these are the first group of three districts in Western province in the programme.
