Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ) president Frank Bwalya says the silence by the Patriotic Front (PF) government on its directive for the technical committee drafting the constitution to print only 10 copies of the final draft constitution is an indication that it has no intentions of delivery a constitution that will enhance democracy and promote the rule of law.

Fr Bwalya says he is also convinced that the PF government has no intentions whatsoever of giving the people of Zambia a just constitution.

In a telephone interview with Qfm News in Lusaka, Fr Bwalya says this is why there have been so many contradictions surrounding the final draft constitution.

He says the PF government is bent on frustrating the current constitutional making process.

Fr Bwalya adds that people should not even blame Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba over the directive to the Technical Committee to print only 10 copies of the final draft constitution because the directive may have come from the appointing authority.

Fr Bwalya states that if the directive to print only 10 copies of the draft constitution did not come from the appointing authority, the Head of State would have come out in the open give direction on how the draft constitution is supposed to be printed and distributed.

Meanwhile, FODEP Executive Director, MacDonald Chipenzi has told Qfm that his organization wants government to release the final draft constitution to the nation as promised by the Technical Committee drafting the constitution.

Mr Chipenzi has also challenged the Technical Committee to tell the nation the outcome of its planned meeting with President Michael Sata on the draft constitution as people in the country are curious to know the resolutions of the meeting.
