Government has warned road Contractors that it will not soften its stance on calling for good workmanship on road projects in Mkushi District.

Zanis reports that Mkushi District Commissioner (DC) Christopher Chibuye says that Government is keen to seriously work on the road.

Mr. Chibuye explains government wants the road projects to be completed within the grace period without any delays.

He cited the on going Mulungwe-Nshinso Government road construction project, saying that the Contractor has done satisfactory works so far and is nearing completion ahead of schedule.

He says that Government is pleased to note that works have been progressing well on the 7.8km road that was undergoing complete rehabilitation.

Mr. Chibuye expressed satisfaction with the workmanship on this road being undertaken by the Contractor Company Tukamona Investments, adding that that Government is very particular on quality of workmanship.

The DC however expressed unhappiness with the construction works on the 30km Nshinso-Mboroma junction road, charging that the Contractor Company Mundio Investments has narrowed the road.

He adds that the works on this road has attracted much criticism from residents and Local Authorities as the road has virtually been transformed into single lane carriage.

Mr. Chibuye maintained that there is need for road construction Contractors to acknowledge the need to accomplish projects with workmanship that satisfied Government and the People.
