Mother of the deceased Inness Mwansa, 52, of house number 271 said in an interview yesterday that her son, Kelvin Mwansa, committed suicide on Wednesday around 06:00 hours by throwing himself in Ngwenya dam in Overspill township.
Ms Mwansa said Kelvin got angered when he discovered that his wife had packed all his belongings and took them to her [Ms Mwansa] place due to the fact that the deceased had left his matrimonial home and went to live with his girlfriend for three weeks.
“My son and his wife have had differences over his alleged extra-marital affair. His wife came to my house complaining about how he left home for his girlfriend’s house for three weeks, so she decided to bring all his belongings to my house, a thing which angered my son,” Ms Mwansa said.
She said her son was seen plunging himself in the dam by passers-by, who later informed her about the incident.
By press time, the deceased’s body had not yet been retrieved from the dam as police were still making arrangements with the fire brigade to have it retrieved.
Acting Copperbelt police commissioner Joyce Kasosa could not be reached for a comment.
