Your Excellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I take this opportunity to thank COPPPAL for inviting me in my capacity as President of the Council of African Political Parties (CAPP) to this meeting.

The Council of African Political Parties was established on the 28th of April, 2013 in Khartoum, Sudan inspired by the African values of solidarity and togetherness.

The key objectives of CAPP are themed around playing its role in the formation of and support to the African Continent’s strategies for conflict resolution; peace-building; deepening of culture of peace and democracy; good governance; eradication of poverty, diseases and illiteracy; women empowerment; food security through a green revolution; industrialization; sea, land and air connectivity; human resources development; education.

The organisation also encourages a situation where settlement of African conflicts is by the Africans and condemns the use of violence and force in the settlement of disputes.

CAPP sees the need for reforming international systems of governance as current decision-making structures and processes fall below the expectations of Africa and the developing world. This includes Security Council reform in light of the African Common Position.

Ladies and gentlemen,
I am delighted to note that CAPP and COPPPAL share commonalities in their objectives and especially in enhancing solidarity and creating a platform for parties to share and actualise development ideas for the good of our common peoples.

That is why cooperation between CAPP and COPPPAL can only strengthen our common purposes and increase the opportunities for realizing these purposes.

Your excellencies,
Africa has continued to be inspired by the lessons and experiences of the Latin American bloc in securing economic independence.

We do therefore hope that this meeting marks the beginning of enhanced cooperation between political parties in the two continents and the realization of an idea of a tripartite group of African, Asian and Latin American political parties.

I thank you
