Don’t frustrate mining sector, HH told

The President said Government is fully aware and prepared to thwart the planned UPND illegal activities in two named mining towns on the Copperbelt.
This is according to a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday by special assistant to the President for press and public relations George Chellah.
“As elected representatives of the people, the Patriotic Front (PF) government will not sit idle and allow frustrated, unpatriotic and bitter politicians to engage in premeditated acts of sabotage.
“Let them be warned that we will not take kindly to these desperate and cheap attempts they plan to embark on under the guise of political recruitment and party mobilisation. We are ahead of them and we will apply the law accordingly,” he said.
President Sata advised Mr Hichilema to embrace nation building, unity and development in his quest for public office.
“Lawlessness and anarchy have no room in a country like ours where sufficient progress is being recorded in terms of governance and development, especially under the PF administration,” he said.
Mr Sata said since assuming office, his Government has left its doors open to dialogue on many national issues and has further established platforms and processes through which various issues are being addressed.

“Therefore, we expect the opposition to utilise available channels of communication instead of resorting to desperate schemes with the potential to negate development,” he said.
President Sata guaranteed that the PF government will not depart from its commitment of upholding the fundamental tenets of democracy, good governance and the rule of law as espoused in its party manifesto.
