THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has said the CAF ‘C’ Licences that were awarded to most Premier League coaches between 2009 and 2010 have expired and the association would conduct a refresher course soon.
FAZ spokesperson Erick Mwanza said during a media briefing at Football House in Lusaka yesterday that the association would conduct a refresher course in conjunction with CAF with new licences expected to be issued next month.
Mwanza said coaches would be required to make a contribution of K1,500 to attend the course and get a certificate which would enable them carry out duties for their clubs in the MTN-sponsored league.
“While this course is not mandatory, it will be in the best interest for every coach to make the most of the programme to get a new CAF ‘C’ Licence because we shall not allow any coach without this qualification to practice.
We are at the moment allowing coaches to train and sit on the bench because we are yet to formalise the course details with CAF but let me remind the coaches that no one will be allowed to carry out duties once the grace period is over and the course is concluded,” he added.
He advised coaches to make the most of the programme as FAZ had cut costs for them by bringing the course in Zambia to avoid them travelling outside the country in search of the qualification to enable them carry out their duties.
Mwanza said circulars would be circulated once formalities for the course details had been finalised.
Meanwhile, Mwanza announced that three of the MTN-FAZ Premier league Week 17 matches have been postponed.
The clash between Nchanga Rangers against Red Arrows and the Nkana versus Forest Rangers have postponed due to Nkana and Arrows players’ involvement with the national soccer team.
The match between Nkwazi and league leaders Zesco United has been deferred due to the policemen’s involvement in the regional police games.
Mwanza said the double header matches to be televised live on SuperSport, would go on as scheduled at Sunset Stadium on Saturday with Napsa Stars taking on Konkola Blades in the 13:00 hours kickoff as Zanaco who welcome back Keagan Mumba face Roan United at 15:00 hours.
Other fixtures will see Konkola Mine Police hosting a resurgent Green Buffaloes with Kabwe Warriors up against Power Dynamos at the Railway grounds, while Lime Hotspurs battle it out against Kalulushi Modern Stars.
