The World Cup Qualifier on September 6th will be a nail – biting encounter between Black Stars and Chipolopolo. Make no mistake, Herve Rennard ( Zambia’s trainer ) is relishing being the first coach to take Zambia to it’s maiden World Cup. Rennard said ” we will fight to the last whistle “ and with that tone, that tells the whole fighting mood in Zambia.
The belief that Chipolopolo could just make it past Black Stars is growing in Zambia. Ghana will be wary of how dangerous Chipolopolo can be. Remember the 1.0 shock defeat at the 2012 AFCON and another 1.0 defeat in World Cup Qualifier in Ndola. These results must be taken seriously by Black Stars. Personally, I recall vividly the last Seoul Olympics Qualifier way back in 1987. Ghana traveled for first leg but crashed 2.0 at Lusaka’s Independence Stadium.
The return in Accra was so tense. Basically, the offensive Ghana Black Stars who mounted a sustained attack scored through a header presumably by Tony Yeaobahh and were looking for a second. In no time at all, Zambia reeling under pressure conceded a penalty which late Efford Chabala heroically saved. Zambia defended the 2.0 lead from first Leg to qualify to 1988 Seoul Olympics. September 6th has all the ingredients of such an explosive encounter !! Ghana must fully prepared in all aspects including rounding up all the best available men including Michael Essien etc. for that historic clash. No experiments in that clash otherwise it will be a disaster for the hosts !!
