SPANISH second division outfit Recreativo da Huelva has rejected the US$90,000 transfer fee Nkana were asking for striker Evans Kangwa.
Kangwa, who returned home last week, spend four months attending trials at the Spanish second tier side.
According to sources close to the transaction, Nkana were forced to recall Kangwa due to Recreativo’s reluctance to meet the transfer fee.
Recreativo stated that Nkana’s transfer fee is well above their valuation of the player.
The source explained that Recreativo had offered US$45,000 but the Kitwe side rejected.
“Recreativo initially accepted the US$90,000 transfer fee going as far as requesting for bank details but later the Spanish side changed their mind coming back with a lower offer of US$45,000. This is what has led to break down in negotiations.
“It is like Recreativo wants to twist Nkana’s arms. Nkana are insisting that their valuation of Kangwa is fair but the Spanish side believes it is too much for a player who has never played professional football and coming straight from Africa,” the source said.
Efforts to get a comment from both club chairman John Chiwele and secretary Ken Mwansa proved futile.
Recreativo finished a disappointing 13th place, 28 points behind champions Elche who won promotion together with Villarreal and Almeira.
The 21-year-old rose to prominence in 2011 when he won the golden boot at the COSAFA Under-20 Championship in Botswana.
Kangwa was also a member of the triumphant Chipolopolo team that won the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon although he did not feature at the tournament.
