Teachers challenged to put in their best

-A government official in Chinsali district of Muchinga Province has appealed to teachers in the district to put in their best as they execute their duties.

District Commissioner, Evelyn Kangwa, made the appeal in a speech read on her behalf by the District Administration Officer (DAO), Noah Simulunga, at the Chinsali District Career Exhibition Day held at Mishishi Primary School yesterday.

Ms Kangwa said it is very important that teachers, being the backbone of future leaders in the country, remain committed and dedicated to duty.

She said the potential of teachers determines the kind of intellectuals of pupils they will produce after they complete their secondary school education.

The DC said bad attitude towards work among teachers will result in production of irresponsible citizens, adding that if teachers are determined, then useful citizens will be produced which in turn will bring about development to the nation.

She appealed to heads of departments who were present at the exhibition to showcase roots that children will emulate as they grow into future leaders of the nation.

Ms Kangwa said the community must also ensure that they abolish practices affecting children, especially the physically challenged.

She pointed out some areas where children are affected as physically, spiritually and emotionally, adding that pupils fail to concentrate at school.

Ms Kangwa added that career guidance is vital to pupils in that it gives them an opportunity to plan their future.

Several government ministries and departments, among them Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS), Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) and Zambia Police, made their presentation during the careers’ day exhibition held at Mishishi Primary school.
