Chief Mwanachingwala of Mazabuka District in Southern Province has bemoaned the poor state of most feeder roads in his chiefdom.

Chief Mwanachingwala observed that most of the roads in his area are in a deplorable state and need to be quickly worked on.

He observed that most roads in his area are damaged with a lot of pot holes posing a challenge in the movements and transportation of agricultural produce from one place to another.

Chief Mwanachingwala said government should move in and grade the road most of which were damaged by the rains during the 2012 – 2013 farming season.

The traditional leader has on the other hand requested government through the Mazabuka Municipal Council to introduce a fish levy so that the funds collected from levy could be channeled towards the grading of roads.

He said his chiefdom were fishmongers pass on their way to Mazabuka township from the lower Kafue river were they buy fish could be used to set up a centre were the local authority would take charge and levy the traders.

The traditional leader further appealed to Government to consider building more schools in his chiefdom saying the move by education authorities not to enroll grade one pupils at Mukuyu is regrettable because education is critical to development.

The ministry of Education in Mazabuka this year failed to enroll grade one pupils at Mukuyu primary School due to the existing dilapidated structures at the school.
