Mr. Kabimba who is also PF Secretary General said the PF governments’ wants to build a government that recognizes Chiefs as partners in development and not tools for soliciting votes.

The Justice Minister said it is unfortunate that the people of Baambwe of Chief Mukobela of the Ila speaking people had stayed for 11 years without a chief following the demise of their chief in 2002.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Kabimba said this  when he officiated at the inauguration ceremony of Chief Mokobela the fourth of Namwala District Yesterday.

He  said the inauguration of Chief Mukobela the Fourth is evident of the PF governments’ policy of its respect and recognition of the important of chiefs in running the affairs of the country.

“ The PF government would want to have a traditional leadership that will help government deliver development  its people as opposed to a situation where Chiefs where used as tools of soliciting votes by the previous governments, “ he said.

He told the gathering that went to witness the installation of the chief that government wants to take development to all parts of the country and prove people that have been discrediting government wrong.

Mr. Kabimba said situations of dragging each other to courts over successions disputes are detrimental to national development.

He observed that what people do not realize is that they spend a lot of money on paying lawyers on the expense of delivering development and leadership to their people.

He noted that it is shameful that some Chiefdom in the country after 48 years of independence do not have schools and health services.

He further implored all chiefs and headmen in Chief Mukobela’s chiefdom to support their new chief and help him deliver to the people expectations.

He however warned them to desist from insulting their leader when they get drunk but find meaningful ways of talking over matter.

Mr. Kabimba observed that traditional leaders are going to be if they are recognized and respected by everyone.

He also reminded the chief to be weary of people that would want o bring him herbs as a way of gaining more power adding that God is the one that appoints.

He told the Chief that if he is not careful the same people will poison him as a way of helping him get more authority.

Meanwhile Mr. Wesley Shabongwe Mukobela , who has been crowned as the fourth Chief Mukobela, has  thanked President Micheal Sata for recognizing him as the rightful person to ascend to the throne.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration ceremony Chief Mukobela the Fourth said it had been a long eleven years of mental torture.

Chief Mukobela explained that it was so unfair for him to be dragged into the court of law over a matter that was straight forward by lineage.

He said the most kind of torture he faced had to stay bound to the traditional rituals, which were already performed on him as part of his recognition, and yet he could not work as a chief because the matter was in court.

He added that such acts affected his personal livelihood as his family too was faced with various limitations.

He cited a situation where he could not work at as farm or walk alone to look for food for his family as such was going to be a taboo in his tradition as a person who had received tradition rituals recognizing him as a chief.

He said has however called on all members of his village and those that opposed him to put their past differences aside and work together for development.

Chief Mukobelo further pointed out that there is time to petition and time to work adding that now is the time to work and not revenging.

He said he expects those that opposed him to be free and dialogue with him on matters of development.
