Mongu, 30th April 2018-Two people have died, one seriously injured and 19 others sustained injuries and are admitted to Lewanika General Hospital after a Bus registration number AEB 1143ZM belonging to Kondwani Bus Services hit into an oncoming truck 40 kilometres from Mongu Town.
The deceased have been identified as Morry Mufaya female and Mwiya Liwilu male of unknown age.
The accident that occured around 18:30 hours happened yesterday, after the driver of the Bus, Patrick Kaira, was trying to avoid hitting into a truck that was in front and an oncoming one and in the process carriered off the road.
The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) wishes to remind all motorists particularly long distance Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers to always be alert while driving and strictly adhere to all road traffic regulations and laws.
The RTSA will continue with its traffic law enforcement patrols to prevent road traffic accidents involving long distance buses that have claimed lives in recent past.
The Agency will institute investigations to establish causes of accidents involving long distance buses that have become a common feature a situation which is unacceptable.
The RTSA is saddened with the death of two people and wishes the injured passengers a quick recovery.
