Rabson for Mweene?

NCHANGA Rangers goalkeeper Rabson Mucheleng’anga could finally get his break into the Chipolopolo squad after impressing coach Hervé Renard in a barren draw international friendly against Namibia.
And Southampton striker Emmanuel Mayuka arrived in the country at the weekend ahead of Renard naming his squad to play the two 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Sudan next month.
With Chipolopolo first choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene set to miss the crucial World Cup tie against Lesotho on June 8, Mucheleng’anga, a former member of the Zambia Under 23 team, is said to have impressed Renard to be a likely replacement in goal.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) spokesperson Erick Mwanza said yesterday that Renard was impressed with a number of players including rising Rangers striker Bornwell Mwape, Mukuka Mulenga, Jimmy Chisenga and Moses Phiri.
Mwape, who proved to be a menace to the Namibia defence along with Alex Ng’onga, once found the back of the net but his effort was ruled off side while defender Bronson Chama cleared Deon Hotto attempt off the line.
Renard himself said some players in the team that played Namibia could make the provision side for the two must-win 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Sudan on June 15 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Both the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Castle Cup that Zambia will host and the African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifier against Botswana will be played this July, just a month after the two World Cup qualifiers.
Renard told journalists in Windhoek that the game against Namibia had given him an insight of which players to pick ahead of the COSAFA Castle Senior Challenge and African Nations Championships qualifiers.
FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya described the result as good for the Zambia developmental team especially that it played well, a month after beating Zimbabwe 2-0 in Lusaka.
In games played earlier, the Oswald Mutapa jr coached Zambia under-20 squad first beat their Namibia counterpart 1-0 on Friday but l
