UPND is joking- Kambwili

Chief Government Spokesperson, Chishimba Kambwili has described recent claims by UPND Vice president Geoffrey Mwamba that his party will reinstate the miners who where retrenched on the Copperbelt when voted to power as a political joke.

Mr. Kambwili who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister has urged political players to raise genuine issues when politicking and not promise the people of Zambia things they can not deliver.

He says Zambia is not the only country facing challenges in the mining sector.

Mr. Kambwili says many countries in the world have closed their mines due the current globe economic stress which has lead to the dwindling of copper prices.

He notes that giant mining conglomerate Anglo America in South Africa has give the government a 60 day’s notice to retrench about 15 thousand miners one of their mines in that country.

Mr. Kambwili told ZNBC that government is doing everything possible to ensure that the mining sector survives the economic challenges.
