A MAN of Choma, who assaulted his wife for unwarranted allegations of prostitution has been sentenced to 60 days community service by a magistrate’s court.
Evans Simwale, 32, a brick-layer of Kamunza township in Choma, beat his wife, Mirriam Moyo, with a stick.
Simwale refused to accept his wife’s explanation and started beating her with a stick causing a painful right hip and general body pains.
Earlier, Ms Moyo tried to withdraw the case against her husband, but magistrate Mbololwa Mukela threw out the application on account that gender-based violence cases have become rampant in the district.
