Police arrest handcuffs arrested jail

The Immigration Department in Monze, Southern province, has arrested 14 foreign nationals for various immigration-related offences.

The 14 were arrested on Tuesday in a routine immigration operation in Monze.

 

Among those arrested are 4 Congolese nationals, 4 Rwandese refugees, 3 Rwandese nationals, 2 Somali nationals and 1 Lebanese national.

And in another development, the Chipata regional immigration office has arrested 9 Malawian nationals and 2 Congolese for unlawful entry into the country.

 

The suspects were arrested on Friday, May 22, 2015.

Meanwhile, the department last Friday deported a Chinese national, Mao Yongjin, 43.

Yongjin, who was working as General Manager at Zhongman Industry and Trade was deported, on reasons that his presence in Zambia was likely to be a danger to peace and good order.

 

He was, on August 9, 2014, along with other unknown persons, found in possession of 3-thousand 667 logs of Mukula tree, at 4-thousand 224 kwacha.

This is according to a statement by Immigration Spokesperson, Namati Nshinka.
