–Two fishermen of Chushi village in Chief Mpempo`s area in Mpika district of Muchinga Province have allegedly been murdered by unknown people while they were fishing at
Chambeshi River.
Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commissioner, Bonny Kapeso, confirmed the incident to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) yesterday.
Mr Kapeso identified the two fishermen as Sunday Mulenga, 29, and Brian Chilufya, 32.
He said the two fishermen were killed on Monday, this week.
The Deputy Police Commissioner said that both bodies of the two fishermen were found with injuries on their bodies with blood coming out from their mouths and noses.
He said Mulenga`s body was found floating on the named river while Chilufya`s body was found in the canoe, 30 metres away from the river shore.
Mr. Kapeso said the bodies are currently lying in Mpika District Community Hospital Mortuary, adding that a docket of murder has since been opened.
Mr Kapeso further said that no arrest has been made so far.
The Deputy Police Commissioner has, therefore, appealed to the general public to help the police with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspected murderers.
