ZIPS launches syllabus
Lusaka, February 28, ZANIS—The first ever Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) national certificate and diploma curriculum and syllabus has officially been launched in the country.
Officiating at the launching ceremony in Lusaka today, Ministry of Finance Acting Permanent Secretary Kasonde Mwila said the new ZIPS curriculum and syllabus will provide substantive local based opportunities for the Zambian students.
Mr. Mwila said the national curriculum and syllabus have come at the right time when the country was in demand of purchasing and procurement professionals with the best knowledge on the evolving demand of a satisfied national labour market.
He commended ZIPS and all key stakeholders for their significant contribution towards the formulation of the new syllabus and curriculum.
And University of Lusaka (UNILUS) Vice Chancellor Pinalo Chifwanakeni said the new national ZIPS syllabus and curriculum will motivate and increase student enrollment in the procurement and purchasing programme.
Professor Chifwanakeni however called for an accelerated implementation of the new curriculum and syllabus in various learning institutions across the country.
Meanwhile, ZIPS president George Mumba said the institute has embarked on a programme of training lecturers and tutors for the initial roll out of the programme.
Mr. Mumba reaffirmed ZIPS’ commitment to producing qualified, competent and effective professionals in purchasing and supply.
