Time for 2013 Barclays Cup draw

THE remaining contenders for the 2013 Barclays Cup will know their fate today when the draw is conducted for the semi-final matches scheduled for October 26, at the Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Three-time champions, Zesco United, Nchanga Rangers, Red Arrows and Green Buffaloes will know their opponents after the draw at Football House in Lusaka for the K2 million-rich competition.
To get to the semi-finals, Zesco drew 1-all with Green Eagles in regulation time before beating the Division One side 4-2 on post-match penalties, while Rangers had to endure penalties after playing out a 1-1 draw with Zanaco before winning 3-1.
Arrows cruised through on a 3-1 win over Division One north side, National Assembly, while Buffaloes edged league leaders Nkana 2-1 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Winners of the competition will pocket K200,000 with the runners-up getting K100,000, while the coach and player of the tournament will get K10,000 and K5,000, respectively.
The final has been set for November 23, at a venue to be announced.
Defending champions Napsa Stars, who beat Power Dynamos 4-2 on post-match penalties after a thrilling 4-all draw in 120 minutes last year, became the first team to fail to defend the title after finishing outside the top six on the log as at Week 15; just like two-time winners, Power.
