Lesotho qualifies to quarter finals
Lusaka, July 11th, ZANIS–Lesotho have qualified to the quarter finals of Confederation of the Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) Senior Challenge Cup.
ZANIS sports reports that this was after the Sotho’s this afternoon beat Swaziland by 2 goals to nil in an exciting match played at Nkoloma stadium in Lusaka to qualify to the quarter finals.
Lesotho who will now face Angola in the quarter finals of the COSAFA senior challenge Cup after the Group B favorites Kenya tumbled to a 2-1 loss to Botswana at Kitwe’s Nkana stadium today.
Lesotho now top group B on five points while Kenya remained on four points, Swaziland on a point after playing three games.
Lesotho scored in the 22nd minute through a Philip Letsie following the goalkeeping error by the Swazi goalkeeper and scored another second goal in the 92nd minute through Tsepo Setrumane to ensure they ensure a quarter final place.
Swaziland could have equalized but due to poor finishing they failed to get to the back of the net at numerous occasions.
Lesotho will finally face Angola in the first quarter final match to be played at Nkana stadium in Kitwe this Sunday where Zambia will also take on Mozambique in the second match.
Namibia who were the first team to qualify to the quarter finals from the group stages will face South Africa in the first match while Malawi will take on Zimbabwe in the second match at Nkoloma stadium in Lusaka this coming Saturday.
