Sata challenges youths to be economically innovative
Ndola Jun 29/13, ZANIS——Republican President, Michael Sata, has challenged youths in the country to become innovative in business and contribute to the development of the economy.
ZANIS Ndola reports that President Sata said this in a speech read on his behalf by Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Emmanuel Chenda, during the official opening of the 49th edition of the Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Ndola.
“I wish to challenge Zambians, especially our youths, to become innovative in business and contribute to the development of the country,” he said.
The President further said government’s desire was to promote high levels of investment in value addition so as to trigger increasing levels of trade.
Mr Sata further commended Micro, Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs for the potential they offer in value addition.
“During the tour of stands, I was able to see exhibitions by micro, small and medium scale entrepreneurs. I was impressed with the range of products and the great potential that they offer for value addition and I would like to encourage them to continue using their drive and passion to grow their businesses,” he said.
The President further said government was currently reviewing various pieces of legislation aimed at improving the business environment for enterprises.
Meanwhile ZESCO Limited has emerged overall winner for best exhibition at this year’s Zambia International Trade Fair, with Zamia Sugar PLC scooping the second position.
Mr Chenda this afternoon officially opened the 49thedition of ZITF which opened on Wednesday June 26, 2013 and ends on July 2, 2013.
