Mutomolo ceremony of the Mambwe – Lungu people postponed
Kasama, June 28, 2013 ZANIS — The Mutomolo Traditional Ceremony for the Mambwe-Lungu speaking people in Mbala district, which was set for this weekend, has been postponed to a later date.
ZANIS reports that Mambwe –Lungu Cultural Association National Chairperson Charles Simuyemba confirmed the development in an interview in Kasama today.
Mr. Simuyemba said the postponement was due to unforeseen circumstances although he could not elaborate further.
He said a new date for the ceremony would be communicated to the members of the public in course and the organizing committee would continue to make preparations for the ceremony.
Mr. Simuyemba has since apologised to dignitaries and members of the public that wished to attend the Motolomolo ceremony for the abrupt postponement of the event.
This is due to a bereavement of Senior Chief Tafuna of Mpulungu District.
Currently, preparations for the burial of the late Chief are underway.
