Ethiopia held title-holders Zambia to a 1-1 draw Monday in the opening 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Group C match despite having goalkeeper Jemal Tassew sent off in the first half.
Collins Mbesuma scored for Zambia in first-half stoppage-time after Tassew was red carded for a dangerous foul on Chisamba Lungu and captain Adane Girma equalised in the second half for Ethiopia, who had an earlier penalty saved.
