FOUR Zambians and a Tanzanian have been arrested after police intercepted three containarised trucks loaded with mukula logs on the Chipata-Mwami road.
Former Eastern Province commissioner of police Eugene Sibote, who has since been promoted as deputy Inspector-General of Police (Administration), told journalists in Chipata yesterday that the contraband was leaving the country en route to Malawi when it was intercepted by police.
Mr Sibote warned outlaws that police would not relent in enforcing the law and would ensure that all those caught with prohibited forest resources are prosecuted.
He, however, said there has been a tremendous decrease in unauthorised harvesting of the mukula trees.
