Five notorious vandals in Kabwe district in Central Province have been arrested by Police for vandalizing ZESCO installations.
ZESCO Spokesperson Henry Kapata has confirmed the development to Qfm News that the five vandals were arrested this week and will appear in court soon.
Mr. Kapata has named the five as Robison Chomba, Sydney Chilinda, Elvis Tembo, Philemon Mwape and Owen Sitima all residents of Makululu Township.
He says the vandals were led by a Mr. Mwamba who has for several years now have been vandalizing ZESCO installations and that attempts to arrest him were always in vain until now.
Mr. Kapata has advised members of public to desist from vandalizing ZESCO installation considering that the power utility company spends colossal sums of money to replace and fix the vandalized installations.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kapata says a 33 year old man of Makeni reported to have been electrocuted only suffered electrical burns and is currently admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
Mr. Kapata has named the victim as Emmanuel Chituma an employee of Maxton Contractors, a company contracted by ZESCO.
