ZAMBIA striker Emmanuel Mayuka returned from injury with a goal in French side FC Metz’s 3-1 victory over Montceau in a Coupe de France on Friday night.
The goal was Mayuka’s second goal in six appearances this season.
Mayuka has been out of action for a month after sustaining a hamstring injury in FC Metz’s 1-1 draw with Brest in a French Ligue 2 league match last month.
The Zambian striker opened scoring for Metz in the 57th minute to atone for missing a clear-cut chance in the sixth minute.
Mayuka played full 90 minutes in the eighth round of the French FA Cup competition.
The former Kabwe Warriors player tore his right hamstring in a league match on October 3 in Metz.
The injury ruled him out of both legs of the 2018 Russia World Cup qualifier against Sudan.
Mayuka last played for Zambia on June 7 when the Chipolopolo beat Ethiopia 1-0 in an international friendly in Addis Ababa.
The Chipolopolo forward joined the French Ligue 2 outfit in August following an unsuccessful three-year stint at English Premiership club Southampton.
Mayuka’s recovery will bolster the Chipolopolo squad ahead of the 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations Group E away qualifier against Congo Brazzaville set for March 23.
Chipolopolo will host Congo Brazzaville on March 27 in the return leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Metz are leading French Ligue 2 log with 27 points, one better than Nancy and Dijon.
