A Zimbabwean man ran off after stealing groceries from a prostitute he failed to pay
According to myzimbabwe.co.zw, a Masvingo court heard that 33-year-old Items Benjamin Mushonga made off with eggs, 2kg pack of chicken, polony, memory card, $6 and a Nokia phone that he stole from Nyadziso Phiri.
Mushonga pleaded not guilty to theft and assault.
He claimed that Phiri was framing him. The prosecutor told the court that Mushonga hired Phiri, who charged him $15 for her services.
In the middle of the night, Mushonga woke up and looted her kitchen while she was asleep.
He tried to sneak out of the house through a window because he could not unlock the door. Phiri was woken up by the noise.
Mushonga threatened to stab her with an okapi knife if she screamed before ordering her to give him her cellphone and cash.
He then ordered her to open the door for him.
Phiri reported the incident the following morning, leading to Mushonga’s arrested.
He was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison.
