Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP)  has said the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Charles Manyuchi was ready to defend his title against Italian boxer Gianluca Frezza on 18th July in Italy.

Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions Manager Christopher Malunga said Manyuchi, who has been in camp for two months, was responding well to training and was physically fit.

Malunga added that both Manyuchi and Oriental Quarries have taken the fight serious to make sure that it takes place.

Manyuchi is facing 35 year old Italian who has a record of 22 wins that includes 7 knockouts, two draws and defeats.

He has further promised Zambian fans that they will see more of international fights which will attract the attention of all boxing lovers in the world.

He explained that although it takes a lot of hard work and commitment to stage such fights, more fights will come to Zambia because of the passion for the sport and not for any financial gain.

And Malunga said the stables will bid for Zambia’s female sensational boxer Catherine Phiri verses 40 year old Irish boxer Christina McMahon rematch to be staged in Zambia.

The rematch is scheduled for any date but before November 30 this year.

Meanwhile, Malunga has disclosed that Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions Stables have expressed displeasure on how the sport of boxing was run in the country.

Malunga could however not disclose the pressing matters that the stables have already presented before the boxing board.

He has however said if the matters were not handled well, the sport of boxing in the country will be end.

The Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions Stables have since sought audience with the boxing board to discuss the abuses in the sport of boxing in the country.
