World Boxing Council WBC female silver bantamweight champion Catherine Phiri lost to Irish Christina McMahon in the WBC female bantamweight gold title, last evening.
Phiri, who admitted her loss , said she was not discouraged with her loss as it is normal to lose at home.
She said she does feel discouraged with the minimum point loss to McMahon in the 10 rounds fight that took place at the Mulungushi international conference centre last evening.
Phiri said she will request a rematch saying her opponent’s boxing style is awkward.
And her trainer, trainer Mike Zulu said he is not bitter about Phiri’s loss fight but said he will go back to the drawing board and erect all lapses.
Zulu also said Phiri is a good fighter who will be continued to be professionally nurtured.
He added that his female boxer will ensure that all lapses are worked on so that the boxer can win the upcoming fights.
And Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions Director Christopher Malunga says despite the fight being too close and going wither way, he has respected the decision by the judges.
Malunga said Phiri is still a professional boxer and a WBC Silver bantamweight title holder adding that his stable will put all measures in place to ensure that she wins the upcoming bouts.
Meanwhile, McMahon refused to speak to journalists for an explained reasons.
It is normal. There should be a winning side and a losing one . Thats all about a game.
