The matter in which former Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba and the Post Newspapers have been sued for libel and contempt of court by former President Rupiah Banda has been adjourned to 17th March next week.

Mr. Kabimba and the Post Newspaper Editor in-Chief Fred M’membe were due to take plea to
day before Magistrate Kenneth Mulife but could not do so after raising preliminary issues.

In an application to seek adjournment of the matter one of the Lawyers representing Mr. Kabimba, Mr. M’membe and the Post Newspapers, Nchima Nchito from Nchito and Nchito Advocates told the court his team had problems with their clients’ indictment.

Mr. Nchito submitted that he was this morning summoned by the High Court to appear before Judge Mwila Chitabo at 11:00hrs and therefore needed time to prepare himself as he had not yet received the processes he is going to respond to.
He told the court that the summons were only delivered to him after 08:00hrs.

Magistrate Mulife then stood down the matter to next week for plea and possible commencement of trial after lawyers representing Mr Banda did not object to the application.
