-A seven bedroomed Guest House and property worth millions of Kwacha in Chambishi district on the Copperbelt has been burnt to ashes under unknown circumstances.
Chambishi Ward Councilor Agnes Bwalya confirmed the development to ZANIS in an interview in Kalulushi today.
Councilor Bwalya said Sparks Guest house got bunt around 23:00 hours yesterday and that the cause of the fire was not known.
Director of the Guest house Eustus Kapembwa who is also Patriotic Front (PF) Political Secretary suspects foul play in the matter.
Mr. Kapembwa said it was unfortunate that the guest house which he built after getting his retirement benefits from the police service has gone under the drain.
He said the PF in the area used one of the rooms as a political affairs office and therefore suspects that his political enemies could be behind the arson.
He stated that he had lost a lot of money in the inferno as over 200 T- shirts, including campaign materials were burnt.
Mr. Kapembwa explained that fire started around 23:00 hours when he went to check on the workers.
He said he saw one man coming out of the Guest House and that he saw some smoke from the room where the client was booked adding that when he got to the room, he found the bed in flames.
And a check by ZANIS found scores of people watching the Guest house which was burnt to ashes.
