Four perish in Kabwe road carnage
Kabwe, Dec 14, 2014, ZANIS ——— Four people died on the spot while 13 others are admitted in Kabwe General Hospital following a road traffic accident that happened about six kilometres along Lusaka road from Kabwe’s main business district.
Three of the victims from the same family who were travelling in a Toyota Prado registration number ABM 7586 all females and a driver from a ZESCO mini bus registration number ABX 5368, died on the spot.
The accident happened when the two vehicles clashed head on.
In the Prado vehicle where four passengers among them being Reverend Bishop Amos Simela of Pilgrim Wesleyan Church of Lusaka who sustained serious injuries with his wife and two daughters who all died on the spot
Among the injured are three national team soccer players who are admitted to Kabwe General Hospital, as the bodies of the deceased are in the mortuary at the same hospital.
ZANIS reports Kabwe General Hospital medical officer in charge George Chipulu to have confirmed the incident in an interview in Kabwe today.
Dr. Chipulu said by this morning the hospital received 13 accidents victims and four bodies.
Efforts to get a comment from Central Province Police commissioner Lungu were unsuccessful by broadcast time as his mobile phone was unreachable.
But Dr. Chipulu added that among the victims, five were seriously injured.
And Reverend Benjamin Sineene of Pilgrim Wesleyan Church of Kabwe explained to ZANIS in a separate interview that Bishop Simela was travelling to Kabwe for worship when the accident happened in which he lost his wife and two daughters.
