—The Kasama Subordinate Court has convicted an assistant court clerk to 12 months suspended sentence for corrupt practices.
Anti-Corruption Commission public relations officer, Timothy Moono, said in a statement released to ZANIS that Brian Kabala aged 36 was arrested by the commission in June last year and charged with one count of corrupt practices by public officer contrary to the section 19 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act.
Mr Moono stated that Mr Kalaba solicited for K850.00 from Daniel Mutambo and received K500.00 as a reward for him to assist Mutambo obtain a favourable judgement in a case that Mutambo had before the Kasama Local Court.
Mr Moono has also disclosed that the Chililabombwe Subordinate Court has convicted Meddy Lashid Ngoma, a former safety manager at Grinaker LTA for one count of corrupt practices.
He said Ngoma was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission in 2012 for soliciting and receiving K700.00 cash gratification from Francis Phiri as a reward for himself in order to facilitate employment for Francis at Grinaker LTA as a general worker.
