Suspects escape unhurt in police vehicle accident
Chikankata, November 7, 2014, ZANIS……A Zambia Police vehicle suspects for court sessions in Lusaka from Siavonga has been involved in road traffic accident due to over speeding.
ZANIS reports that the accident happened around 09:00 hours this morning at the Mazabuka – Chirundu Tjunction in Chikankata district when the policeLand Cruiser hit into a taxi.
Speaking at the scene of the accident, Sergeant Sikede of Turnpike Police station said the accident happened when the police vehicle registration number ZP 2183 B driven by Constable Benard Yangani hit into a Toyota Corolla registration number ABE 9311 driven by Given Milambo.
He said Constable Yangani was over speeding on his way from Siavonga to Lusaka taking suspects to court.
“Both vehicles were coming from the same direction but the taxi driver indicated that he was turning to the right into the nearby abattoir at Turnpike, however the Land Cruiser was speeding and hit the corolla at the driver’s door,” he said.
Sgt Sikede explained that the driver of the taxi driver from Chikankata sustained a deep cut on the forehead and us suspected to have suffered internal of the right ribs .
Constable Yangani said Milambo has been rushed to Kafue General Hospital for treatment and observation.
