Govt embarks on construction of resource centres in seven districts

Minister of Youth and Sport Chishimba Kambwili today told parliament that government has embarked on the construction of new resource centres in seven districts.

 

Mr Kambwili said the ministry has already been given treasury authority to employ more staff to help beef up what they already have.

 

He named some of the districts to benefit as Chililabombwe, Chama, Kalabo, Mpongwe, and Kafue Districts.

 

He said his ministry has also asked the ministries of Home Affairs and Defence to recommend instructors that would assist in training some youths at the center in skills training.

 

Mr Kambwili said in an effort to provide efficiency the students that will be trained at the resource centers will be awarded with test certificates approved by TEVETA.

 

He said about 12 thousand kwacha has been set aside for each of the resource centres and they will be specialised in programs such as welding, mechanics, carpentry, bricklaying and tailoring.

 

Mr Kambwili was responding to a question from Kaputa Member of Parliament Maxas Ng’onga who wanted to find out when the youth skills training centre in Kaputa district will be expanded to enable it cater for the increased number of youths in Kaputa and Nsama districts.
