DEC arrests Lusaka lady, several others for drug trafficking

—–The Drug enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested a 29 year old business lady of Lusaka for drug trafficking.

 

DEC Assistant Public Relations Officer, Chibu Mwansa Tembo, disclosed that Annie Musonda of Chilenje area has been arrested for trafficking in rocks of cocaine weighing 27.3g.

 

Mrs Tembo said the suspect was apprehended as she was about to transact along Kalomo Road in Chilenje area.

 

She said the Commission in a separate incident has also arrested Webster Kalikhoka Muzeche, 32, a businessman of plot number 54 Makeni area for trafficking in granules of cocaine weighing 0.5g.

 

Meanwhile, in Southern Province, the Commission has arrested Prince Ndundambeza, 26, a Malawian national for trafficking in cannabis.

 

In a statement availed to ZANIS in Lusak today, Mrs Tembo explained that Ndundambeza of Kasaka area in Kafue district has been arrested for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 6.1kg.

 

She revealed that the suspect had been on the watch list for supplying psychotropic substances in the area and that he was apprehended at Kafue Bridge.

 

And the Commission has also arrested Alfred Ziba, 82, a village headman of Efumbeni village in Chama district for trafficking in 2.3kg of loose cannabis and Jackson Nyale, 35, a peasant farmer of Nyale farm in Lukanda B Kapiri Mposhi for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 10.1kg.

 

Others arrested include Philbert Kaseki, 30, a peasant farmer of Kasenge  villaged in Mwinilunga district for trafficking in 7.8kg of loose cannabis and Bridget Kwiya, 28, of Itezhi-Tezhi compound in Mumbwa district for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 1.7kg.

 

Mrs Tembo said all suspect are expected to appear in court soon.
