Three killed in road carnage in Shiwang ’ andu District


Shiwang`andu, September 18, 2014. ZANIS — THREE people have died in a road traffic accident along the Great North Road in the area between
Mukwikile and Kalalantekwe in Shiwang`andu District of Muchinga Province.


ZANIS reports that area District Commissioner (DC) Moses Katebe confirmed the accident in an interview , today.


Mr. Katebe said two unidentified victims were Tanzanian Nationals both males and a Zambian female identified as Christine Chibwe a teacher at Changalilo
Primary School who all died on the spot.


The DC said the accident happened around 18:00hrs, last evening when a trailer and a tanker had a partial contact after the deceased driver
who was driving a tanker truck registration number T452 CVW and tanker number T596 CCA tried to over take another truck.


The deceased bodies are currently lying at Chinsali District Community Hospital Mortuary.


Meanwhile, A Tanzanian National of Kennan Transport Ltd Prosper Kessy who was driving truck registration number T269 ACT and Trailer number
T944 ACG survived the accident with a swollen hand.


Mr.  Kessy told ZANIS that after the lid of a tanker carrying gas opened, it hit on his screen, then the tanker driven by the deceased lost
control and carried off the road in pieces.


Efforts to get Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso for a comment failed by broadcast time.
