Kasama General hospital receives cervigram machine
Kasama March 7, ZANIS ——– Northern Province Permanent Secretary Hlobota Nkunika says Kasama General Hospital has received a Cervigram machine from the Ministry of health.
Mr Nkunika said this machine will be used for screening women for cervical cancer upon its installation at the health institute.
He said government is committed to providing access to quality health services to people especially women in Northern Province.
Mr Nkunika said this in a speech read on his behalf by Provincial Deputy Permanent Secretary Alfred Sakala during the International Women’s Day week activity of screening and reproductive health lessons at Kasama General Hospital yesterday.
He noted that women play an important role in the development of the country hence the need for them to access quality medical services.
Mr Nkunika has since challenged women to engage themselves in activities towards national development and uphold the spirit of dialogue.
The Permanent Secretary said this will promote peace not only in the homes but in the country as a whole.
And Northern Province Medical Officer Jelita Chinyonga has encouraged women to go to the hospital for regular screening.
Dr Chinyonga said this will help women know their health and how to take care of themselves.
She added that Cancer is curable if detected early hence the need for people to be taking checkups regularly.
This year’s women’s day celebrations will be held under the theme” The Gender Agenda Gaining Momentum”.
